While the mainstream media often focuses on societal body “norms” and pressures for women, there is often much less focus and attention on men. However, men too can be very self-conscious and aware of the “ideal” male body type propagated in Hollywood and throughout social media, often linked to being tall, muscular, and highly toned all over. While this physique can be exceptionally hard to achieve, it can lead to massive insecurities in men who stray far from achieving this image. Further, while this “ideal” body type often includes a set of shapely pecs, this is quite different from the soft, breast-like appearance related to gynecomastia, a hormonal condition that plagues up to 30 percent of males sometime during their lifetime. This additional body fat sometimes isn’t linked to overall weight at all, so it can be additionally frustrating and embarrassing to try and conceal.
