For most people, naps are a good thing. A brief period of shut eye that lasts for less than an hour can actually help you make it through your day and sleep better at night. A nap can also perk you up in the afternoon, improving your functionality for the rest of the day. And unlike a cup of coffee, you won’t be too caffeinated to sleep at night, and a nap doesn’t cost you a dime. Overall, naps are a pretty good deal. In some cases, however, a nap might not be a good idea. If you have never been a napper but suddenly find yourself dropping off in the middle of the day, it’s in your best interest to find out why as there could be a medical reason at play.
